Raith Rovers supporters group Geordie MunRovers have joined forces with VRN in a joint fundraising effort.
The team of 15 took part in a sponsored climb on 27th July, tackling Glas Maol – a 3,500ft mountain in Glenshee.
For many of those taking part, it was a chance to “bag” their first Munro.
Much of the money will be used to restart Raith Rovers’ match commentaries on VRN. The service, which ran successfully for many years, should be up and running again shortly.
The service will be relayed back to Stark’s Park over the Internet, then broadcast to patients, staff and visitors in the Victoria Hospital campus.
Several successful tests have taken part over the last few weeks at the pre-season friendlies, and the first of a new team of commentators are already getting used to the role.
Two of those that helped organise the walk, Tom Phillips and David Hancock, also produce their own weekly Raith Rovers’ show on VRN every Thursday night.
